Albumen: Poaching in Macro
I have been carefully extracting tiny, pearl-white fragments of egg albumen from my morning poach. A strange habit, I know. After a couple of weeks in the fridge, these fragments turn clear and start to resemble something like shedded snakeskin – I am obsessed with this heavenly organic texture! Recently my supply became substantial enough to attempt a macro shoot. Each piece here is no longer than 2cm and surprisingly sturdy, but easily torn if handled at certain angles. The next stage is to try collecting larger sculptural fragments, trying to improve bubble control techniques over a larger surface area.
